Saint of the Day

Saints are ordinary men and women who have led extraordinary lives. They moved by the power of the Holy Spirit and were in a position to see God even in times of intense suffering. The Catholic Church has a gamut of saints whose lives are set before us that we too may find hope and courage and strive to be like them. It is encouraging to know that we have brothers and sisters who have gone before us and who are constantly praying for us.

There are over 10,000 saints in the Church and there is a saint assigned for each day. This is known as the feast day of that particular saint. Having a saint for different days of the year allows us to know and celebrate the lives of those saints the whole year through.

Patron Saints: These are saints who support a special cause, or group of people. There is a Saint assigned to almost every profession or special interest. For example there is a patron saint for rain, for travelers, for bankers, and even for actors! Prayers are most likely to be answered when we ask a patron saint for help.
