Feast of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Priest and Martyr

Gospel Reading: MT 18:15-20

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Mt 18:20)

When one reads the text given above, one is reminded of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Jesus joins them and walks with them and they do not recognise him till he shares a meal with them.

Jesus joins us when we come together for community prayer but we often do not recognise his presence in the community of people who have come together. Jesus could be present in the person sitting next to us who is facing some personal problem, or a wife who has recently lost her husband.

Let us be especially aware of the community around us when we take part in any community prayer.
