Gospel Reading: MT 19:3-12

“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Mt 19:6)

We live in a world where making a lifelong commitment is becoming very rare. Many marriages, within a few years, end with a separation and then divorce. Or in the case of priestly and religious life the priest or religious asks for a dispensation after making a perpetual commitment.

Jesus is very clear about the sanctity and lifelong commitment of a marriage. He does not condone divorce even though it was permitted by Jewish law.

Let us pray for married people to be faithful to their partners. And for priests and religious to be committed to their perpetual vows.
